Race City Sauce Works The Coming Hot Sauce
I have referred to companies and sauce creators thinking out of the box at least once before in an earlier review. Chad of Race City Sauce Works falls into this category. I have learned over the years to not look at the ingredients on Chad’s concoctions and just taste them.  I usually just chuckle under my breath after wondering what in the world this one will work with and just roll with it. He has blown me away in the past with some of the ingredients he has used in sauces, and he has confused the living hell out of me in the same breath. Sometimes you just have to try it first and think about it later. By the list of ingredients listed here, The Coming falls into this category for sure.

Ingredients:

Red Wine, Sweet Onions, Carolina Reaper Puree, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Red Wine Vinegar, Lemon Zest, Orange Juice, Hibiscus Juice, Prickly Pear Puree, Salt

These ingredients seem innocent enough until you reread the front of the bottle. There you will find “Sun Dried – Candied lemon peel Carolina Reaper Sauce.” Yes, my friends, that is thinking out of the box!

When you you first open your bottle and smell it you can tell it’s going to be a little different. I am not finding anything that just stands out. You get a little a heat and I am thinking it’s the burn from the red wine. Whatever the case, it’s interesting. This has a medium consistency, and seems a little thicker than the average sauce. As for the all-important taste, this is layered with flavors that take turns coming through. There’s a nice, clean mouth feel to it at first, and then it just goes deeper from there with a little sweet, some heat, and finishes with the tang of the vinegar before the heat comes back around a second time with a vengeance. I will be the first to admit I don’t like sun dried tomatoes, for that fact I am not the world’s biggest tomatoes fan, so it’s nice that this flavor is not in the forefront or as overpowering as I would have thought. On food this sauce works incredibly well. So far it’s been perfect on fajitas and chili. I will say now that is sauce will work well with just about anything. I will not say that heat level is not high, or that if you use too much it won’t catch up to you fast. For those who may be fearful in trying a reaper sauce, this is one I would recommend. This sauce is hot enough to hit the Madness level, and the Notable flavor will keep you coming back.
